This application provides teachers and learners with the opportunity to create and use machinima videos and related exercises to learn a foreign language anywhere, anytime, anyplace.
Students can use the machinima lessons incorporating videos and interactive exercises to study a foreign language from different teachers around the world.
As a teacher you can create your own lessons based on machinima and add supplementary exercises to inspire learners, anywhere in the world. To include your lessons on the mobile application, you first have to design and create them on the “Teacher’s Web Panel” which is available here: http://camelotapp.eu/
The mobile application and the Teacher’s Web Panel are both products of the CAMELOT (CreAting Machinima Empowers Live Online Language Teaching and Learning) Project which was funded by the European Union between 2013 and 2015. If you are interested in finding out more about the CAMELOT Project, you can visit our website: http://camelotproject.eu/
CAMELOT developed a teacher training course to train and equip language teachers and learners to produce visually appealing real-time animations in immersive digital environments, commonly called machinima. Machinima is a portmanteau word that combines the words “cinema” and “machine” and refers to filming actions, role-plays and dialogues between 3D virtual characters or avatars. CAMELOT aims to foster the development of an EU-wide approach to language learning and teaching that is appropriate for the twenty-first century based on project-based learning and learner creativity.
If you want to learn to create machinima in Second Life® we invite you to take our self-study CAMELOT Project teacher training course or MOOT (Machinima Open Online Training), which you can find here: http://camelotproject.eu/MOOT3/index.html.
